AUTHOR

Agatha Christie

English mystery and detective writer (1890–1976).

About the author

Agatha Christie wrote sixty-six detective novels and fourteen short-story collections. Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple became her most famous investigators, but her lasting skill was architectural: a closed circle, a limited set of facts, and a solution hidden in plain sight.

Christie removes the usual detective who stands safely outside the danger. Every person is both suspect and possible victim, and each new death changes the practical problem of who could have done it. The construction is intricate, but the chapters stay short and the pressure never slackens.
