About the author
Anne Michaels is a Canadian poet, novelist, and professor whose writing examines memory, war, loss, place, and the ways art carries another person’s experience across time.
Her first novel, Fugitive Pieces, won major literary awards and was adapted for film. The Winter Vault and Held continue her interest in history at intimate scale, using formally compressed narratives rather than conventional linear plots.
