About the author
Yael van der Wouden is a Dutch writer and teacher whose essays and fiction examine Jewish identity, memory, desire, and the stories European households tell about property after the Holocaust.
Her debut novel The Safekeep was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and later received the Women’s Prize for Fiction. It sets an intimate relationship inside the material history of a Dutch house.
