About the author
Uketsu is the pseudonym of a Japanese writer and online creator who appears in a white mask and black bodysuit. The work combines narrated mystery, horror, diagrams, and apparently ordinary domestic details whose arrangement reveals concealed violence.
Strange Houses and Strange Pictures both ask readers to inspect visual evidence as part of the solution. Their English editions introduced a wider audience to a form that developed across videos, web writing, print, manga, and film adaptation.
Where to start
Start with Strange Pictures in Jim Rion's English translation if you want linked cases built from drawings, or Strange Houses for architectural plans used as mystery evidence.
