Tara Westover is an American memoirist and historian. Educated traces her movement from an isolated Idaho childhood without formal schooling into universities, while asking what learning gives, what it costs, and who is allowed to name a shared past.
Tara Westover grows up below Buck's Peak in Idaho in a family preparing for the end of the world. Her father distrusts schools, hospitals, and government; the children work in his scrapyard, and serious injuries are treated at home by their mother.
