About the author
Stephen King is an American writer of horror, suspense, fantasy, crime, and science fiction. His stories often begin with an impossible event, then give equal attention to the town, family, workplace, or friendship through which its consequences spread.
King's long novels build pressure by making ordinary routines matter. A vampire invasion, plague, prison miracle, or doorway into the past becomes convincing because characters still have jobs, resentments, jokes, debts, and loyalties while confronting it.
Where to start
Start with 'Salem's Lot for small-town horror, Misery for a tight psychological confrontation, or 11/22/63 for a large time-travel story. The Stand is the longest and broadest choice.
