Shahrnush Parsipur is an Iranian novelist whose work combines social observation, myth, mysticism, and transformations of the body to examine the restrictions placed on women.
Her books include Touba and the Meaning of Night and Women Without Men. She was imprisoned in Iran, and Women Without Men was banned there before becoming an internationally known modern classic.
