AUTHOR

Ray Bradbury

American writer (1920–2012).

About the author

Ray Bradbury was an American novelist, story writer, poet, and screenwriter whose work moved across fantasy, science fiction, horror, mystery, and realism. He wrote technology less as machinery than as a pressure on attention, memory, fear, and wonder.

Bradbury's future is not a police state so much as an attention-collapse: wall-sized televisions, seashell radios, chases broadcast live, and no one left who wants to sit still with a book. The regime burns books less from ideology than from a promise to keep everyone equally, frictionlessly entertained.
