About the author
N. K. Jemisin is an American science-fiction and fantasy writer whose work examines power, oppression, cultural conflict, and survival. She became the first writer to win the Hugo Award for Best Novel in three consecutive years, for the Broken Earth trilogy.
Jemisin tells the story through three women at different stages of life: a child taken for training, a gifted young orogene assigned to a mission, and a mother moving through the end of the world. The links among them change the meaning of what each has endured.
