About the author

Keyu Jin is a Chinese economist whose research and public writing focus on China, global finance, and macroeconomics. She explains Chinese growth through the interaction of households, firms, local governments, political institutions, and a rapidly changing social contract.

Keyu Jin writes as an economist who grew up in Beijing and later studied and taught in the West. Her starting point is that China's economy cannot be understood by treating it as a delayed copy of either Soviet planning or Western capitalism.
