About the author
Joe Abercrombie is an English fantasy writer best known for the First Law world and the Shattered Sea trilogy. Before publishing fiction he worked in television and film editing, an experience visible in the sharp cuts, dialogue, and shifting viewpoints of his action scenes.
The Devils begins a separate series in an alternate, magic-riddled Europe. Its company of convicted monsters lets Abercrombie keep the violence and black comedy of his earlier work while directing them at church politics, holy missions, and institutional respectability.
