About the author
Ethan Rutherford is an American writer and educator whose fiction has repeatedly returned to ships, failed expeditions, work, and survival. He is the author of two story collections as well as the novel North Sun.
North Sun uses an 1878 whaleship to combine historical adventure with mythic disturbance. The voyage keeps the labor and hierarchy of maritime fiction while refusing to treat the Arctic as an empty resource.
