About the author
Douglas Stuart is a Scottish-American novelist and former fashion designer who grew up in Glasgow and later moved to New York. His fiction draws on working-class Scottish life, family, sexuality, addiction, masculinity, and the economic damage of deindustrialisation.
Shuggie Bain, his first novel, won the 2020 Booker Prize. Young Mungo returned to Glasgow through the relationship between two boys from divided religious communities, continuing Stuart's attention to tenderness inside violent social expectations.
