Daniel Kahneman was an Israeli-American psychologist whose research transformed the study of judgment and decision-making. His work with Amos Tversky showed how systematic mental shortcuts complicate the economic picture of the consistently rational person.
Daniel Kahneman names two characters to make mental work easier to observe. System 1 is fast, automatic, associative, and always generating impressions; System 2 is slower, effortful, and capable of calculation, but often content to endorse what arrives first.
