About the author
Bram Stoker was an Irish writer, theatre manager, critic, and barrister. Dracula became his defining work and one of the central texts of Gothic and vampire literature, though he wrote novels, stories, and nonfiction throughout his career.
Stoker tells the story entirely through documents — diaries, letters, telegrams, newspaper clippings, a ship's log. The method makes the horror procedural. The reader assembles the evidence alongside the characters: Mina and Lucy, the young women at the center of the threat; Dr. Seward and his lunatic patient Renfield; and Professor Van Helsing, who is the first to name what they are fighting.

Start with Dracula. A Transylvanian count moves to England, and a small band of people learn what he is and hunt him down.
