AUTHOR

Ben Horowitz

American technology entrepreneur and venture capitalist (born 1966).

About the author

Ben Horowitz is an American technology entrepreneur, investor, and co-founder of the venture-capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. He previously co-founded Loudcloud, led its transformation into Opsware, and sold the company to Hewlett-Packard.

The Hard Thing About Hard Things draws on that operating history to discuss layoffs, executive changes, fear, wartime leadership, and decisions with no clean answer. His later writing extends the same direct style to organisational culture.

Where to start

Start with The Hard Thing About Hard Things for Horowitz's operating memoir and management advice, especially if you want cases from moments when a company is not performing well.
