About the author
Alex Michaelides is a British Cypriot novelist and screenwriter. He made his fiction debut with The Silent Patient, a psychological thriller built around an act of violence, a refusal to speak, and a therapist's confidence that he can uncover the truth.
Michaelides tells The Silent Patient through Theo's notes, Alicia's diary, and the institutions that decide what her silence means. The form makes interpretation part of the suspense: every explanation reveals as much about the interpreter as it does about Alicia.
