Alex Hanna is an American sociologist whose research examines technology, race, data, labour, and the institutions that decide how automated systems are built and used. She previously worked on AI ethics at Google and is associated with the Distributed AI Research Institute.
With Emily M. Bender she co-hosts the Mystery AI Hype Theater 3000 podcast and wrote The AI Con, which challenges inflated claims about artificial intelligence and redirects attention to present social consequences.
